Cabot Creamery Cooperative
We arrived at the Cabot Visitor Center on a Saturday and unfortunately they weren’t making cheese that day but we went on the tour anyway. The tour starts with a short film covering the history of the cooperative and then our guide took us by the cheese rooms. The tour was informative and our guide was able to answer our questions. It would have been great to see actually see the cheese being made. The lobby houses a large gift shop with everything from cheese to t-shirts to stuffed animals. My favorite part was the cheese tasting section. There were cubes of at least 10 different cheeses, most of them cheddar, and they were delicious. I tend towards the stronger, sharper ones myself. We picked up a couple hunks for the road. We loved the rural drive through pastures and past bucolic scenery, what a great side trip!
