Antelope Island State Park
The largest of the ten islands in the Great Salt Lake, Antelope Island is accessible either by driving or biking over the causeway or by boat. The 28,000 plus acre island is home to bison, pronghorns, deer, coyotes, and a slew of bird species, many of which are easily visible at different locations around the island. The park offers hiking, biking, horseback riding and cross-country trails as well as swimming, picnicking and camping (no hook-ups). Start off at the Visitor Center but be sure to save time to visit the Fielding Garr Ranch House too. Hint: Take a swim. The water is so salty you will float nearly weightless on top—really cool. There are showers available to rinse off the salt. There is a small cafe on the island if you get hungry.
