Zion National Park
From our location in the tiny town of Leeds we were half-way between the two sections of Zion. So we were able to explore the Kolob Canyon section which is overlooked by many of Zion’s visitors. The five mile scenic drive wound through a gorgeous canyon dwarfed by cliffs of red rock. On the short hike to a never-ending vista we passed few people. There is also a trail that leads to Kolob Arch – one of the world’s largest.
At Zion Canyon there were hordes of people. The free shuttles help ease congestion and were easy to hop on and off at various locations in the canyon. Stop in the Human History Museum and watch the short film about the various people in Zion’s past. If you want to get away from the crowds be prepared to hike, we took a trip up the Narrows and the further we went the less crowded it became.
