Port Aransas
Eateries
Moby Dick’s Restaurant
Though billed as a restaurant the place also has several bar areas and a small stage. During warmer weather and the weekends I bet the place is hopping. The place was rather subdued on our visit but the food was delicious. Our Cajun Boil hit the spot although we could’ve skipped the crawfish.

Adventures
University of Texas Marine Science Institute
The Institute has a small museum and visitor center that is worth exploring. It explains many of the things that wash up on the beach. The Institute often has free public lectures and even screens nature documentaries on occasion. If you have a chance to attend one of Tony Amos’s talks jump at it. He is energetic, thought provoking and entertaining.

Roosts
IB Magee Beach Park
This county run park offers great rates on camping either on the beach (dry) or just off the beach with hook-ups. They don’t have sewer hook-ups, just a dump station. The new restrooms, laundry and office facility should be open by now, it was under construction during our visit in January 2007. Though the park feels remote, town and all the necessities are only a few blocks away. There is plenty of fishing just off the jetty and the beach stretches for miles to the south.
