Di Bella’s Restaurant
If you like Italian food, like Mama used to make than this is your place. The main room feels like someone’s house, the decor is eclectic and the lighting is dim – perfect for a date! Be prepared to wait for a table and bring plenty of money. It may be good but it is not cheap. Oh, I really do mean bring money, as in cash, since they don’t take credit cards!

Shrimp and Stuff
Don’t dress up but come hungry. The prices are reasonable and the food (primarily seafood) is fresh and tasty. On warmer days eat out on the patio. Grab some friends, have a good meal with or without a cold beer or glass of wine and enjoy the island life. They do a brisk take-out business too.

Adventures
NOAA Fishery Service Galveston Laboratory
This facility was a bit hard to find but worth the trouble. Once inside the warmth and humidity will take you and your camera a few minutes to adjust to but its the optimum environment for the sea turtles. The turtles were all Loggerheads that were hatched from harvested eggs. They are raised to maturity, about two years, tagged and then released. It was a very interesting and informative way to spend a couple hours and we highly recommend it.

Galveston Island State Park
This park is amazing! Located near the middle of Galveston Island the park spans the width of the island from the Gulf of Mexico beach to the quiet wetlands on the other side. This is a great place if you like to birdwatch. Plus the island is chock full of history and things to do.
