Choke Canyon State Park
This state park is located on Choke Canyon Reservoir and offers the usual boating, fishing, and camping facilities. The interesting part about the Calliham Unit (where camping is allowed) is that since it is built near an old townsite it offers many other activities. The residents of the town were forced to leave by the creation of the reservoir in the 1970s and most of the buildings were razed. However the school building still stands and offers shuffleboard, tennis, volleyball, and full basketball courts along with the ability to rent the main building which has a kitchen and can seat 300 people. For nature lovers there are several trails to explore and a wildlife center. The park also has screened shelters available.
