Aransas National Wildlife Refuge Complex
This refuge is most famous as the wintering home of the endangered Whooping Crane but there is far more to it than that. In fact the cranes are incredibly hard to see from a land tour of the refuge since they feed out along the water’s edge. We saw plenty of other birds to keep us interested as well as armadillos, deer and alligators.
