Sokol Blosser Vineyard
Sokol Blosser is one of the oldest wineries in the area and it is also organic and sustainable, all good reasons to stop in but we go there specifically because we are in love with one of their wines, Evolution. Evolution is a white wine blended from nine varietals that is perfectly light with a hint of sweet for summer. It is very approachable; it can pair with anything from grilled chicken to salad and can even stand in as dessert. High on a hill the tasting room has large windows and a gorgeous patio with views over the vines and on clear days, Mt. Hood in the distance. Thankfully, the tasting room and the staff are very welcoming and casual unlike a few of the other vineyards in the area, which shall remain nameless. Feel free to bring a picnic or buy some deli items there. We shared a tasting of five wines and though the Evolution stole the show we were both intrigued by Meditrina, their fairly new red wine blend. Hint: Tours are available on the weekends. Caution: Tasting fee charged.

Argyle Winery
This tasting room is a very popular stop right off the highway. The winery focuses on sparkling wines, but also has a good showing of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Since it was one of several wine tasting stops for us that day we shared a tasting not only to save money on the tasting fee but also to control our alcohol content. Located in a lovingly restored farmhouse the tasting room is bright and cheery and the staff was equally approachable. Not surprisingly, the wines we most favored were well out of our price range so we left without purchasing any bottles. Caution: This tasting room can get quite crowded.
