Big River Restaurant
We dined here one night with friends who recommended the place. We had a wonderful time; the atmosphere is nice and open which can get a bit noisy when crowded. The menu was tantalizing with many great options (too many?). The menu focuses on northwest inspired cuisine made from local and mostly organic ingredients. So, as you can imagine it was a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Though we didn’t hang out in the bar area it looked nice and they often have live music. The restaurant is located along the Willamette River walkway which is a great place for an after dinner stroll. Hint: Their happy hour is rumored to be quite good. Caution: They don’t take reservations, expect long waits on the weekends.

Squirrel’s Tavern
This is a great little low-key place in the heart of town. With cozy booths, upstairs pool tables, foosball, and excellent beer on tap it is a relaxing place to hang out. They serve lunch and dinner though we only stopped in for a beer. The clientele was a good mix of young and old which made us feel right at home. Hint: Some weekends they have live music. Caution: They don’t accept anything but cash for payment. There are ATMs near by.
