Heavener Runestone State Park
This park is worth quick visit even if just for the expansive views of the Poteau River Valley. This corner of Oklahoma is nothing like the rest of the state. The park protects a huge rock that has symbols carved into it. Some scholars claim that Vikings made the carving though there is still quite a bit of controversy about it. The park offers free admission, a picnic and play area but no camping.
