Fort Ticonderoga

A National Historic Landmark the Fort that overlooks Lake Champlain has been mostly rebuilt and restored. The site is privately owned and managed so the admission fee is higher than at other historic sites and the explanation of the fort’s historical significance is not as thorough. They do offer tours and ours was led by a costumed interpretor. There are other locations beyond the actual fort to tour but we ran out of time and were unable to visit them. There is plenty of free parking and a small restaurant on site. The fort is open mid-May through late October. Hint: Look on their web site or in local tourist brochures for a discount admission coupon.
