Women’s Rights National Historical Park
The Park consists of four historic sites, two in Seneca Falls and two in nearby Waterloo. We arrived late in the afternoon so we only had time to wander the Visitor Center’s extensive displays and tour the shell of the Wesleyan Chapel next door. Oh, and we took in the short film about women’s rights. Both the exhibits and the movie reminded us how far we have come and also how far we have yet to go in the fight for equality. Across the street and down the stairs is the historic Cayuga-Seneca Canal. Check the website for Ranger Guided Tour times. Admission to the entire park is free.

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge
The Refuge covers over 7,000 acres most of which is restored marsh land. The Visitor Center is open on weekends and most weekdays and the Refuge is open from dawn to dusk. There are several driving routes through the marsh and around small lakes. Though it was quite dry and the water levels were low during our visit we still spotted quite a few bird species. There are nice observation towers located at Tschache Pool and the Visitor Center. The Esker Brook Nature Trails provided a close up look at South Spring Pool and a chance to stretch your legs. Remember to take along a pair of binoculars and a camera! Admission is free.
