National Baseball Hall of Fame
After paying admission on the first floor head directly to the Grandstand Theater on the second floor. A short multi-media presentation ends with the audience singing “Take Me Out” to get you in the spirit. The rest of the second floor follows the chronology of the development of America’s pastime with special sections devoted to the history of the Negro and Women’s Leagues. The third floor focuses on record breakers and historic ball parks. Our favorite section was a TV that looped through fantastic baseball bloopers and Abbott and Costello’s famous “Who’s on First?”. End on the first floor touring exhibits about baseball in movies, the Hall of Fame plaques and of course, the gift shop. It takes most of a day to tour and they will stamp your hand for readmission so that you go grab lunch and come back. They allow photos and the use of flash. Hint: Check the schedule of events and plan to attend some of the talks offered throughout the day. Caution: The Hall is located right downtown and parking is very limited. Do yourself a favor and use the Cooperstown Trolley which services three large park-and-ride lots around town during the summer months.
