Anchor Bar
If you like Buffalo Wings then this place is for you. The bar/restaurant not only claims to have invented them in 1964 but claims to have the “Best Wings in the World.” I am not a big wing fan but Lance and I found them to be quite tasty. Somehow they weren’t greasy and the sauce was to die for. I could drink the sauce, its that good.
They have a well-stocked gift shop with all manner of wing related stuff, including bottles of their amazing sauce. If you are planning on dining in the restaurant call ahead or prepare for a long wait as the line stretched out the door and into the parking lot during our visit. Or, grab a seat in the bar area, which is what we did. You can order drinks and food from the bartender. If you want more than wings try their “Beef on Weck” and “Chicken Lips.”
Caution: Anchor Bar is in a slightly seedy part of town.

Adventures
Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site
In 1901 Theodore Roosevelt was inaugurated in this house in Buffalo, New York. The mansion is a bit hard to find in a neighborhood that has seen better days. There is a small, free parking lot behind the house or there is metered, on-street parking in front. There are one way streets so accessing the rear parking lot can be difficult. Arrive before 4 pm if you wish to take a guided tour of the house. Our tour focused on the house and its furnishings more than Teddy or his swearing in ceremony. Caution: The site is closed for renovation until Fall 2008. Call ahead or check the website before planning a visit.
