We couldn’t drive this even if we wanted to since we only had our small RV and no car so we took a guided tour. The tour was informative and the view on the way up was astounding. The view at the top was limited to mist, fog and gray clouds. It was cold and windy too, exactly what we expected. We would have liked to have stayed longer than 30 minutes at the top since we had to rush through the small museum and the Tip-Top House. On the way down we started shedding layers and were back in our shorts since it was warm and sunny. Caution: Take a jacket. If you want to take a guided tour arrive early in the day to avoid long waits since they don’t take reservations. Hint: Some cars are not allowed to drive the road for safety reasons, the gate attendant will check the list for you. We were told that if you have one of the Hondas that are not allowed up the road, you can take a guided tour and Honda will pay for it. Check with the gate attendant to see if that offer is still available.
