The Warren Tavern
Located just down the street from the famous battlefield of “Bunker Hill” (which actually happened on Breed’s Hill—it’s a long story) the Warren Tavern is the oldest tavern in Massachusetts. We stopped in late one afternoon for some refreshments, just like George Washington and Paul Revere did so many years before us. We relaxed in the bar and shared a snack and a beer, escaping from the heat and the crowds of Boston. The prices were reasonable and service was casual although dinner in the dining room was more upscale.

Adventures
Bunker Hill Monument
This free site is one of the few sites in Boston that is managed by the National Park Service. Check the schedule for any talks or demonstrations that may be offered. Then climb the tower for a great view, you can see the U.S.S. Constitution (Old Ironsides) and the Boston Harbor. Caution: It is 294 narrow stairs to the top with no place to stop along the way. Go slowly and remember, take it one step at a time.
