Hoover National Historic Site
Located amidst acres and acres of rolling cornfields this is one of Iowa’s two National Park sites. The site includes the house of Hoover’s birth and several other restored buildings from the historic small town of West Branch. A patch of restored tallgrass prairie is also open for exploring. Located within walking distance of the Hoover Presidential Library and Hoover’s final resting place. At certain times throughout the year there is a blacksmith at work (working as Hoover’s father did). Hint: There are tables available for picnicking.

Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum
This assuming building houses a very informative and interesting telling of the life of Iowa’s only president. It’s a very well-laid out museum (and we’ve seen a few museums). Going in we knew very little about Hoover and his amazing story but by the time we left our impressions of the man had drastically changed. Hint: Plan for at least an hour.
