Spankys
The building houses a restaurant and a bar and offers a patio with a decent view of the water. The place seemed to be quite popular with the local crowd during happy hour. Expect to wait for a table on the weekends. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere though it was a bit noisy. Try the Brunswick Stew—it was delicious and quite filling!

Hofwyl Broadfield Plantation Historic Site
This former rice plantation was left to the state in 1973 by the last remaining heir of the Dent family. On swampy land at the confluence of the coast and the Altamaha River the family (with the extensive use of slaves) built a rice empire starting in the early 1800s. The site includes the Hofwyl house which is open by guided tour, a visitor center and nature trail. We enjoyed our afternoon on the property but left hungry for more information about the place. Be sure to take some bug spray!
