Marin French Cheese Co
Located several miles southwest of Petaluma the place is worth a visit if even for the scenic drive. The company has been making European-style cheeses and been winning awards since the 1860s. They specialize in Brie, Camembert, Chèvre, Quark, and several flavored cheese spreads. Marin has a small store with free samples and a couple of tables for immediate eating. Even more inviting is the large lawn with picnic tables scattered under shade trees around the pond. Caution: They are not currently offering tours of their facility, though they are scheduled to restart in 2009.
