Lake Jennings County Park
As the name implies the lake is the prime focus of this park. The park is very popular with anglers. During the week they fish from the shore in droves and on the weekends they take to the water in boats. Thankfully, the boat launch is on the other side of the lake so boat noise is kept to a minimum. The park has a medium-sized campground that offers both full and partial hook-ups as well as tent camping. The park has several hiking trails, a children’s playground, two bathhouses, and a dump station. The park is high enough up on a hill that it offers good views over the San Diego River Valley. The park’s location is hard to beat as it is only 5 miles east of El Cajon and just a couple miles from the Interstate which makes access easy. This park offers camping in a nice setting at a very reasonable rate compared to the commercial RV parks in the area. Caution: The entrance is poorly marked on the blind side of a curve on a steep hill, go slow and keep your eyes peeled. This park is slated to be removed from the San Diego County park system soon, however I think it will still be open to the public.
