Drift Inn Saloon
Located in the small historic district of Globe this two story structure was opened in 1902 as a saloon, hotel and brothel. Now it is only a bar. The upstairs is closed pending further renovations but the downstairs retains the long wooden bar, some of the original decorations, and the creaky wooden floor. There are also pool tables, a small stage for live music, and several TVs for sports fans. Our first visit was out of curiosity but the rustic ambiance, nice owners, and eclectic crowd enticed us to return. On any given day you’ll find a handful of locals hanging out, on the weekend bikers stop in, as do sports fans, hunters, hikers, rockclimbers and retirees. We haven’t been there in a few years but we hope it is still going strong. It would be a shame to see the building left vacant to slowly fall into disrepair. Stop in for a beer sometime. Caution: While we liked it there, it certainly falls into the local dive category. Also, keep in mind that we didn’t go there for the food, though the bar food was decent.
