When asked what makes me successful, I think of three four-letter words that end in K: luck, work, and risk.

We read this quote by Muriel Siebert in a magazine in Gorham, New Hampshire. We certainly agree with her three words, but we would put work at the top of that list.

This quote from Viggo Mortensen really hits the nail on the head. It’s certainly the way we feel. There is so much to see and do and experience.

There are two young fish swimming along and they happen to meet an older fish swimming the other way. The older fish nodded at them and said, “Good morning boys, how’s the water?” The two young fish swim on for a bit, then one looked over at the other and said, “What the hell is water?”

I can’t remember where I came across this gem of a quote by David Foster Wallace last month… I do remember that it impressed me so much that I reread it several times. The first time through it seemed humorous, by the next read it seemed deep, and now I think it is pure genius in its simplicity.

A life is not important except in the impact it has on the lives of others.

This Jackie Robinson quote was on the cover of our Atlanta Braves program on April 15th. Major League Baseball was celebrating the 60th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the “color barrier” in baseball. Jackie’s story is an amazing one and this quote really resonated with us.

Oh, so true! We came across this little gem in a brochure while we were visiting South Padre Island, Texas. All this traveling is good for us! We have encountered bits of wisdom like this along the way, and often it is found in the most random places.
