Travel Challenge February 2009
During our travels across the country we’ve had the opportunity to see and learn about some of the amazing critters that share our North American home. Part of our newfound knowledge of species includes the descriptive—often fun and sometimes just plain odd—names given to groups of animals (e.g. “murder of crows”).
Our challenge to you this month is this: Match the group name with the correct critter.
| Group Name | Animal |
|---|---|
| Gang | Pheasants |
| Charm | Hummingbirds |
| Romp | Elk |
| Bouquet | Otters |
| Sleuth | Swans |
| Army | Bears |
| Brace | Turtles |
| Convocation | Caterpillars |
| Wedge | Ducks |
| Bale | Eagles |
Instructions: When you think you have figured it out, enter your guess in the comment field below. Be sure to check back next week to see if you were right.

bouquet – pheasants (nye)
charm – hummingbirds
gang – elk
romp – otters
wedge – swans
sleuth – bears
bale – turtles
army – caterpillars (or a really big construction project)
brace – ducks (but only a pair)
convocation – eagles
I actually knew army and charm
