American River Adventure

Filed under: Outdoor Adventures & RV & Travel by Erin on 5/29/2008

This leg of our journey required us to do some backtracking, and for those of you who know me you know I avoid going the same way twice if I can help it. I’d just as soon go a different way and see something new, but this time we were traveling at night so I [...]

Winding Down in Windsor

Filed under: RV & Travel by Erin on 5/27/2008

The Sonoma Valley is a beautiful place but the main reason for our visit to the area was to spend time with our good friends Kelly and Elaine. Since they are both working and taking classes and we are busy during the work week our time together was relegated to evenings and weekends. It is [...]

Travel Challenge Answer May 2008

Filed under: Travel Challenge by Erin on 5/22/2008

I admit to a bit of omission when crafting this month’s Travel Challenge question. I substituted the term “politician” for that of President or Vice President since I wanted make it more of a challenge. Unfortunately, it made it a bit confusing and I apologize for that. A Visit to Beauty Ranch

Gone are the long, hot, sunny, sandy beaches that stretch for miles in either direction. Up here there are high cliffs, cold winds, sea stacks, and small pocket beaches [...]

Back in Sonoma Valley

Filed under: Outdoor Adventures & RV & Travel by Erin on 5/9/2008

It was late Saturday evening and knowing that we had some miles to cover to reach the Sonoma Valley by Sunday we chose the straightest and largest road, I-5. Our thinking was that it would make the trip more direct and faster. Boy, were we wrong; I-5 was wretched! The roadway was full of potholes [...]

Santa Ynez Valley

Filed under: Outdoor Adventures & RV & Travel by Erin on 5/6/2008

It was a cool, gray morning when we left the Santa Maria Valley and headed for another girl-named valley, Santa Ynez. The valley, river, and nearby mountains all get their name from Mission Santa Ines (Spanish for Saint Agnes). The teen-aged, virgin Agnes earned her spot among the saints when she chose death over renouncing [...]

Public Service

Filed under: From the Road & Humor by Erin on 5/1/2008

We discovered this sign inside the Warren Tavern in Charlestown near Boston. After all our years of working with the public Lance and I found it to be oh so true. I still wonder how old that sign was; some things just never change.
