Day Trip: Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge

Filed under: Outdoor Adventures by Erin on 2/27/2007

This story starts by backtracking briefly to Port Isabel. I neglected to mention in our last post that Lance and I ran cross a noisy group of Great Kiskadees there. We were riding our bikes around town and heard this raucous chatter.

Since Port Isabel is so close to the Mexican border and is rather [...]

February 2007 Mystery Photo Revealed

Filed under: Mystery Photo by Lance on 2/22/2007

The Mystery Photo for this month was an American Alligator. Erin took the photograph in December, 2007 during our visit to the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge.

Congratulations to Aaron for the first correct answer!

Port Isabel, Treasures and Oddities

Filed under: History & RV & Travel by Erin on 2/20/2007

Our interest was piqued on the drive down before we even reached our destination of Port Isabel in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV). Filed under: RV & Travel by Erin on 2/13/2007

Our island home for the week was Padre Ballí County Park on the north end of Padre Island. Technically, it is North Padre Island since the government created the Mansfield Channel in 1962. The channel allows for boat passage but it cuts Padre Island into two pieces. The other half is the famous resort and [...]

Bailey’s Modeling Debut

Filed under: Humor & Images by Erin on 2/9/2007

We made a shocking discovery this past week: Bailey, our eldest, has secretly been moonlighting! How could this happen? We followed the best advice on how to raise a well adjusted family member. We set boundaries, we reinforced good behavior, discouraged bad, and most important, we always showed him love.

The infraction? Bailey has been modeling [...]

Corpus Christi and Her Famous Ships

Filed under: History & RV & Travel by Erin on 2/6/2007

Ah, Corpus Christi, the “Sparkling City by the Sea.” We reluctantly left our lovely island RV spot by the Gulf for the mainland. If the weather had been better and if we hadn’t had an appointment to attend we might have stayed indefinitely in Port A (Port Aransas for those of you that are just [...]

Road Wise: Pessimism

Filed under: Road Wise & Travel by Erin on 2/1/2007
Pessimism never works.

This was on a sign at a tire shop in downtown Farmington, New Mexico. I had to think about this one for a minute but it really makes sense. Who needs a sage or oracle when you have roadside signs like this to enlighten you?
