Sudoku, the New American Obsession

Filed under: Willett News by Lance on 9/29/2005

Sudoku, the Japanese number puzzle game, has taken our household by storm. We print and play daily. If you haven’t heard of it, check out this Wikipedia article to find out more.

It started by Erin finding a sample puzzle in the Arizona Republic. She liked it, but we don’t get the paper regularly (she actually picked it up from a restaurant the first time).

She was hooked, and now my job is to download and print a “Gentle” puzzle and also the “Moderate” one every day before she gets home from work. When she walks in the door, she always looks at the printer first. If there isn’t anything there, I hear “Sudoku!” in a loud and demanding voice.

Anyway, I tried it tonight, and it is fun! If you want to get your daily fix, or just want to try it, go to Sudoku Online : Sudoku of the Day and get going. It’s a big hit in our house; from what they say it’s sweeping the US also.

Here is another nice Sudoku version, done in Flash, where you can save your games:

There are many different types of games, with different difficulty levels. Cheers, Peter
