Save Fantasy Island!

Save Fantasy Island!
You have maybe seen the cover of the Tucson Weekly for March 31st, 2005. You might have seen some red shirts at town council meetings. What is it all about?
Local Tucson mountain bike park “Fantasy Island” is in jeopardy of being bulldozed for new homes. Originally conceived as a playground for fat tire enthusiasts on Tucson’s way-east side, the area has been recently coveted by money-hungry developers and state land officials.

The development of the property is in the hands of the State Land Department, and they are proposing to sell it developers as part of the City of Tucson’s Houghton Area Master Plan (HAMP).
Aaron and I recently took a ride there after work one day, and it was awesome to be out right at sunset. The track was fast, but we had to stop a lot to take pictures and enjoy the beauty of being outdoors in the Tucson springtime.
Please join the fight to keep the area open to the public as it is a fantastic place to go ride the single track here in town, and it would be sad to see it go.
