The River that had Water!
One thing that is hard to understand when living in southern Arizona is the lack of actual water in the rivers here (they are usually sandy as a beach…without an ocean next to it).
Last month we had a huge rainstorm, which also dumped some snow on the Catalina Mountains. Erin and I were coming home from errands on the northern side of Tucson, and were pleasantly surprised to see one of Tucson’s dry riverbeds running bank to bank! The Rillito River (which means “little river” River if you go with the literal Spanish) is usually dry, but was full of sparkling blue water.
