Chiva Falls Hike
On New Year’s Day we had great weather! So we decided to head out to the hills. Accompanying Erin and I were Tom and Libby (Lance’s parents), Heidi and Jed (Lance’s sister and her husband), and friends Jeff and Maryann. It was a perfect day to be out hiking and exploring.
The trail (which is actually a 4 wheel drive road) starts off of Redington Pass Road. It’s the same place I rode to with AJ and Tim back on Thanksgiving Eve.
While we shared the road with 40 or 50 jeeps and trucks, it was still a relaxing event. The destination, of course, was Chiva Falls, a spectacular waterfall in the foothills of the Rincon Mountains (near the headwaters of Tanque Verde creek). It’s an amazing thing to see—so much water in the middle of the desert.
