Faster Is Usually Better

Filed under: Lance's Report by Lance on 12/8/2004

Wow!I must say that it will be hard to go back to dial up. I say this as I finalize my new cable modem connection through Cox Communications. I just ran a test, and the download speed was almost 3MB per second! I was on a 56K modem for the last… well, forever.

Erin and I researched all the major broadband options in Tucson, and Cox was the fastest, easiest, and best price. So we are online now in a big way! No more trips to University of Arizona library to upload photos and FTP files from disks to server folders. I can’t believe how amazing it is!

Not only is it nice for web design and development, but it’s nice for web email and streaming media. I am finally able to listen to one of my favorite online radio stations WOXY from Cincinnati. Erin is excited too about her favorite station: WMVY from Martha’s Vineyard.

Now I just have to make sure I don’t stay online all night playing with my new settings… First visit was http://twocentsworth.com/ to see Jenny’s pole vaulting video. Go Jenny! Next visit will probably be all my web projects to see how fast they load.

YAY!
