October Update
Erin and Lance have been busy! This blog entry serves to bring you up to speed on our lives. We wish to also inform you of a new email address for us: fautrever [at] gmail [dot ]com. Please update your address books as we won’t be checking our old email account any more.
Work
Erin has been working on a special project for the Environmental Education Exchange, where she has been an environmental educator for the past 3 years. EEE developed a renewable energy curriculum for elementary, junior high, and high school students for a large Arizona power company. Erin’s role was to edit the layout and text for the 700 page-long project. She also attended two large conferences in Phoenix to introduce the materials to teachers and educators.
Erin has also worked with the AZ League of Conservation Voters for almost a year, and recently was promoted to Membership Outreach Supervisor. This part-time job involves educating voters on current political issues in Arizona concerning the environment.
Lance and Summit Hut just successfully completed yet another Fall Sale which for them marks the beginning of the busy holiday shopping season. His role as assistant manager for Web/Phone sales has expanded to include several customer service contracts for outdoor recreation companies as well as further training in Summit Hut operations.
In his “free” time, Lance is busy building clientele for his freelance web design company: design.fautrever. Several web projects are underway. He is learning about running a small business as well as continuing his education in the web development field. (If you are interested in seeing his portfolio, follow the web design link on your left).
Fun and trips
In September, Erin was given a free plane ticket to fly anywhere Southwest flies in the continental US, and she chose… Ohio! She flew there to visit family that she hadn’t seen in over two years. It was a quick trip, but a wonderful time. It was nice to reconnect with everyone – short but sweet. For pictures, check out our photo album on fautrever.com.
Lance’s latest outdoor activity is mountain biking, mostly in training for a race in Phoenix this October. The event is called “24 Hours of Adrenaline”, and he is part of a team sponsored by Merrell Boots that will race as many laps as it can in 24 hours around a desert course. He enjoys training several days and nights a week out on Tucson-area trails with his teammates (see “5am Crew” blog entry).
As we head into the holiday season, we look forward to our first Thanksgiving at our house on Seneca St—our chance to host family and friends. Christmas promises to have more family in town, including Lance’s parents up from Mexico and sister Adria from Chicago. We will celebrate together here in Tucson at sister Heidi’s house, which she and her husband Jed recently purchased.
P.S. Don’t forget to VOTE!
